The yellow Allflex button sheep tag and the yellow Shearwell data tag are the only Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags currently approved for use in the Canadian Sheep Identification Program (CSIP).

Purchasing Tags
To order tags, please see below for authorized distributors in your province.

Tags may only be purchased through the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers Limited (1-800-567-3693).

Saskatchewan:
Tags may only be purchased through the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board (1-306-933-5200).
​
Quebec:
Producers in Quebec must purchase their tags through Agri-Traçabilité Québec (1-866-270-4319).

Tag Evaluation
Producers play an important role in helping assess the performance of official CSIP tags. CSF encourages producers to give feedback on tag performance over time and in farm situations. This feedback will assist in identifying issues that the CSF may need to examine with manufacturers. By providing the CSF with feedback on tags, producers will help ensure that the industry is being provided with the best tags possible.
